Michael primarily works in the Trust and commercial areas, providing advice and guidance to clients as a professional Trustee and as a Director and adviser to many Companies.

Michael’s particular area of expertise is in the structuring and restructuring of commercial enterprises, asset protection matters, negotiating and mediating on commercial issues and strategic guidance for Companies, both in times of growth and recession.

Before establishing Michael Chung Law Office in 1997, Michael started his career as a Solicitor in a large national law firm and then a partner in a small Wellington law firm.

He is involved with the community and has served on many PPTA’s and also as Vice-President and acting President of the Wellington Chinese Association and also as a Trustee on the Board of Wellington College.

Michael is married to Siena and has two adult sons. Outside the law, his passions are his family, travelling, food, wine and his small olive grove in Martinborough where he spends many a day sitting on his tractor mowing the rows in between the olive trees.
